Video Game Geeking

I upgraded my aging video card (a Voodoo 3000 from the now defunct company 3dfx) to one with an nVidia chip and I have been geeking out on video games for about a week or so. The games which have so far been occupying most of my time: Jedi Outcast, which is a first-person shooter where you play a former Jedi Knight set ten years after Return of the Jedi. I have to say this game is much better storywise than the story involved in the currently playing Episode II. The great thing about this game besides immersion into the Star Wars universe is the light saber combat, of which there is plenty. You can even tune the settings so that you can “realistically” cut off arms, legs, heads, torsos, etc. from opponents as you see them in the SW movies. Another good time waster is an old favorite, GLTron, which is open-source game based on the lightcycle scene from Tron.
