Misplaced Authenticity

Mel Gibson’s project already disappoints me. His attention to authenticity, such as the dialogue being in Aramaic, seems rather misplaced when he still insists on using Caucasian, and not Middle Eastern, actors to portray the main players. Religious worship is not only part faith, but also to a certain extent, a cult of personality. Imagine how changed American Bible Belt culture would be if their view of Jesus was someone who looked more like Yassir Arafat rather than a young Kenny Rogers. Would it even exist as it does today?
