One of the laptops models apparently being used in the field during this campaign sounds incredibly durable. Itronix, the makers of the GoBook Max list their testing methods in its brochure: “We drop each one 54 times from one meter, bake it in an oven, chill it in a freezer, vibrate it, and submit it to a shower of hurricane proportions”. I wouldn’t want my Powerbook to drop from one inch onto the table, let alone one meter.
The article later states that the laptops should become popular with parents because it is essentially “toddler proof”. If you get it dirty, just shove it in the dishwasher. Very impressive.
